We are unionizing to democratize the workplace and make decisions collectively in the best interest for workers and participants. Today decisions at OnPoint NYC are made by a select few individuals and imposed on the rest of us. "But the reasons to organize a union go far beyond the above demands. We also want to be able to retire with dignity. We want better healthcare that is available and economically attainable for all employees of OnPoint NYC, regardless of their position or income. Through unionizing the workforce, workers want more than job security. This makes it all the more crucial that the workforce has a union to ensure an increased level of job security and establish a mechanism for due process and protection for workers. In a statement posted to Twitter, the new union said "OnPoint NYC's workforce partners with the most marginalized populations often most harmed by the various exploitative systems in our society. ![]() They are demanding recognition from their employer. Employees work to improve the health, safety, and well-being of marginalized people who use drugs or engage in sex work. OnPoint NYC is a recent merger of New York Harm Reduction Educators and Washington Heights Corner Project, two longstanding harm reduction organizations in East Harlem and Washington Heights. If your on FMLA your job is at risk as they will do everything they can to get you out the door. The workers of OnPoint NYC this week announced their intent to organize a union and be represented by the New England Joint Board of UNITE HERE. Acting like teenagers while expecting you to excel in a hostile work environment. ![]() As the department losses good employees they dump more work into your overloaded workload and question why it can't be done and never replacing the open job positions expecting your team to pick up the slack. They pick their targets and all management must jump on the bandwagon talking negatively about your co-workers freely and any other team members they choose not to like. Breathing down your neck and making you explain every detail of your job and micro managing you while wanting you to do more. Management spend their day trying to document everything they can to tell you how incompetent you are while having no idea how to do the day to day work. Systems never work properly and your day is spent figuring out everything that does not work. One dictator runs a whole department implementing half baked processes & policies as she sees fit. But if you’re looking for a place to work where you can feel miserable every single day of your life. So if you’re looking for a job that’s not stressful (mainly because of how ridiculous management is) and want to feel you’re making a difference in people’s lives then this job is definitely not for you. They do not care about their employees, they’re just little pawns. UHH only cares about one thing and one thing only, to make The Union happy. Lots of micromanagement, criticism, belittling and just simple caos. ![]() Management on the other hand, well what can I say. So don’t let the smiles over zoom fool you. Co workers are the biggest hypocrites (from the exception of one or two) and are there to help no one but themselves. Management will expect you to answer calls after hours and go above and beyond your pay rate. Once you’re a few months in you start to realize what a sh*tshow this company really is. It all starts great like every relationship but don’t let that fool you.
